A day of shooting in Tacoma, Washington - in and out of the rain /
After a sunny winter day in Seattle, a fiery sunset over the Olympic Mountains /
Riding the ferry back home after a day of cycling in Seattle, we were treated to a spectacular light show.
Winter paddling in Salish Sea country /
This past weekend I had the pleasure of paddling in the sunshine with a group of friends. We picked a destination that included a stretch of new water for everyone - and a bit of unexpected low-tide wading at the end of the day. The light was fantastic as the sun was settling to the horizon. It was calm, not too cold and we were together. Very nice day out in the wild world!
Bill Nye - 1979 promotional images for his early stand-up act in Seattle /
In 1979 and 1980, I was living with a couple of good buddies, one of whom was Bill Nye. Not long after, Bill moved on from his work as an engineer to being an entertainer and then to being a science educator. At the beginning, though, Bill did some stand-up in Seattle and I shot a series of images he could use as promo. We hung a quilt against a wall in the dining room and started clicking the shutter. Bill dove into his routine and the resulting images have made me smile through the decades. I can’t remember which one he used for display at the front doors of comedy clubs, but no matter. I think they’re all fun and pretty accurately capture the Bill Nye I knew back then.
