At the end of each year, I like to post 10 of my favorite images on Instagram. There are always way too many, but it’s a fun exercise. During the year I travelled and adventured with Kate, got reconnected with old friends, discovered amazing things just outside my front door and visited places that have been on my list for many years. A good one!

The snow was a bit thin for cross-country skiing, so we split our time between skiing the valley trails and hiking up Patterson Mountain. The sun came out at the summit on the shortest day of the year!

In 2003, I shot photos of Jim Whittaker for an outdoor magazine, Hooked on the Outdoors. This was part of a series of famous people in their garages with their outdoor gear. Jim was very kind and welcoming during my visit to his home in Port Townsend, Washington. Always refreshing to meet prominent people who aren’t too caught up in their own fame.
